Shiatsu is a journey into the realm of eastern medicine and its approach to maintaining the health of the body. In this bodywork system, which originated in Japan, you are encouraged to relax by your practitioner applying pressure to specific vital acupressure points and/or meridians (life energy pathways found in eastern medicine). The meridians have a balancing effect on all of the organ systems. The effect of holding points or manipulating the meridians also acts as a releasing effect on all the surrounding tissue. In a unique sense this treatment is detoxifying, relaxing and ultimately energizing. Can be done while clothed or draped.
