Big Kiss! Try This DIY Pucker Up Lip Scrub
Have you ever exfoliated your lips? Raid the kitchen for a simple DIY sugar lip scrub. In under 5 minutes, you can exfoliate dry skin and enjoy soft, kissable lips all day. This lip scrub combines exfoliation with much-needed moisture to slough off dead skin and make way for new skin cells.
The Recipe
This is a simple recipe with 3 main ingredients, and highly customizable.
You’ll need:
-
2 teaspoons sugar (Raw sugar is best, but any sugar will do, except for powdered sugar)
-
1 teaspoon honey
-
1 teaspoon almond oil
Mix everything together in a small bowl until you have a paste. Apply to lips and massage into your lips to gently slough off dry, dead skin cells. Rinse with warm water and follow with lip balm or a touch of almond oil. Keep any extra in a small container in the refrigerator.
Honey is the ultimate lip medicine. It soothes dry, chapped lips by drawing moisture from the air and into the skin. It also has tons of antioxidants and can bring relief to irritated lips because of it’s mild antiseptic properties and speeds healing of small cuts or burns.
Add Something Extra
You can’t go wrong sticking with just the basic recipe, but sometimes you want to get experimental in the beauty test kitchen. Here are a few add-in ideas to take your scrub to the next level.
-
Grate a tiny bit of lemon zest into the mixture
-
Add a dash of cinnamon to naturally plump your lips. Start with a very small amount because it’s easy to overdo it and wind up with irritated lips.
-
Open up a vitamin E capsule and add it to the scrub, for an extra dose of moisture.
-
Add a dash of cocoa powder for nourishing antioxidants and a bit of chocolate flavor.
-
Sprinkle in a ¼ tsp of pumpkin pie spice if your PSL craving has gotten out of hand.
-
Make your scrub super indulgent with a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Yum!
This scrub is a perfect addition to your shelter in place home spa routine!
